Just finished Blood Orange an hour ago. It was the best book I've read in a long time. I could not stop reading it and the characters were so vivid and sympathetic. As an Episcopalian, I really connected with the depicitions of Lexy and the parish of St. Tom's. I can't wait for my book club to meet to discuss this one. I just know that everyone will agree with me on this one.

I loved the book BLOOD ORANGE! I thought the way the story was written and how it turned out to be in the end was so peaceful. When scary or sad parts came up chills would go down the back of my neck. I loved that book and hope to write just like that.

I stumbled on this site and what a pleasure to read three positive comments about BLOOD ORANGE. Literary Guild Book Club is publishing BONE LAKE in August. It's the story of the battle for the heart and soul of a child raised in a community of domestic terrorists. A challenging subject to write about but I'm pleased with the result and I hope you will be too. Keep reading good books! Dru

Well, you convinced me to read this book. I, too, might not have picked the book up because "autistic" is a theme in many books. Thanks. spiritfriend

[...] I heard such good things about this movie, so I really thought I might enjoy it. I don't know why, since I didn't like In Cold Blood. Also, the story was about a true crime, which is not really an interest of mine. The acting was good, but I just didn't care for the storyline at all. I pushed myself to finish this one, but probably should have listened to my intuition and just sent it back right away. [...]

It always tickles my fancy when I read a description of a book I have read and realize that you found so many things to point out that I didn't focus on. I guess the remark about Daniel's being an outcast was really one of them. Perhaps there is some significance of his daughter running to the place he was running from.

The style of art in the book was one that the comic books used after my time. I was an avid comic book reader of Archie and the Superman series. The characters were not so muscular and did not take up the whole page.

I enjoyed your thoughts...

One thing that hit me as I read your thoughts was how fast everyone is to be judgmental, finding someone to blame. They don't wait for all the facts to come forth or put themselves out to help. They subscribe to newspapers that exploit the situation and use this as there source of information.
